Renewal Fee
(BCI Charges A $0.75 Convenience Fee To Renew Online)
Utah Resident: $20.75
Non-Resident: $25.75
- Renewal fees are waived for all Active Duty or Active Guard and Reserve (AGR) service members and spouses of active duty service members.
- Service members and spouses must appear to BCI in person and provide a copy of the service member’s current active duty Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders. See the “In-Person/Mail” tab.
- Service members in the Reserve and National Guard do not qualify.
Expired Permits
- If your concealed firearm permit has expired for less than 30 days there is no late fee.
- If your concealed firearm permit is expired for more than 30 days, but less than 1 year a late fee of $7.50 will apply.
- If your concealed firearm permit has been expired for more than 1 year it cannot be renewed. An individual must retake the concealed firearm permit class taught by an approved instructor. See our classes here.

- The ability to upload a passport-quality photograph (2″ x 2″). You can use your cellphone to take the picture as long as it complies with the passport-picture requirements
- The ability to upload proof of non-resident permit, if applicable
- The ability to provide nonrefundable payment using a credit/debit card

- If you live in a state that currently recognizes or has reciprocity with Utah, you must have a valid permit/license from your state BEFORE you can renew a Utah permit.
- If you live in a state that does not recognize the Utah permit, you do not need a permit/license from your state to renew your Utah permit.

Upon receipt of the completed online application, all required items listed above, successful payment, and passing the background check, BCI will mail your new permit. It will take approximately two weeks to receive it.

Provisional Concealed Firearm Permits Expire On The Individual’s 21st Birthday And Cannot Be Renewed

- Complete the Application to switch from a Provisional Permit to a Regular Permit”
Applications that are not legible will be returned to the applicant. The application must include permanent physical residence and mailing address (if applicable). - Photocopy of your driver’s license or state-issued identification card.
- Photocopy of your provisional permit. You DO NOT need to retake the concealed firearm permit class* – see picture

One recent color photograph of passport quality (2″ x 2″, no hats or sunglasses) Your first and last name must be printed on the back of the photo. - Non-Resident Proof Of Permit:
- If you live in a state that currently recognizes or has reciprocity with Utah, you must have a valid permit/license from your state BEFORE you can switch to a Utah “regular” concealed firearm permit.
- If you live in a state that does not recognize the Utah permit, you do not need a permit/license from your state to switch to the Utah “regular” concealed firearm permit.

- Applicants Born Outside Of U.S.: If you were born outside of the U.S. you must include your Alien Registration Number or INS Registration Number on your application or include a copy of your U.S.-issued born abroad birth certificate. A copy of a valid U.S. passport will also be accepted for proof of citizenship if born outside the U.S. A permanent resident card (green card) will also be accepted.
- Supporting Documentation: If applicable, you must provide documentation to support any “Yes” answers on the application.
