It is LEGAL to carry a firearm on any UTA Bus, Trax, or Frontrunner.
In May 2016 Governor Herbert signed House Bill 67 – Weapons on Public Transportation into law. The bill amended (deleted) codes 76-10-1504, 76-10-1507, and 77-23a-8 to eliminate the prohibition of carrying a firearm on a bus as long as the owner can legally carry the firearm and has no criminal intent. Prior to this bill becoming law, it was illegal to carry a firearm on a bus, including bus stops, even if the firearm was unloaded and secured in a locked case without a valid concealed firearm permit. This meant that those who relied on public transportation could not use a bus to get to the shooting range or to bring a newly-purchased firearm back to their home.
