The 2026 Utah Legislative Session started on January 20th and ends on March 6th. If a bill passes, it is sent to the Governor for action. The Governor can either sign the bill, veto it, or allow it to become law without a signature. Any bill not signed or vetoed by midnight on Thursday, March 26th, 2026, will automatically become law on May 6th, 2026, unless the bill specifies another date. The Legislature can override the governor’s veto of any bill or line item by a 2/3 vote in both the House and the Senate. If you want to know more about a bill, its process, and how it becomes law, see the Utah State Legislature website or How A Bill Becomes A Law In Utah.
